Meet Steve Murray

For some time, we’ve been thinking about recognizing some of the folks who work behind the scenes and keep our houses in working order. One of those individuals is Steve Murray. If you’re part of Specialized Housing, you’ve probably crossed paths with Steve at some point. Steve helps with solving some challenging routine and urgent maintenance problems, and does it all with a smile, which is why we’ve been wanting to highlight Steve and his positive effect on our community.

Last November, a couple of parents and a program manager at one of our Newton houses were discussing how helpful Steve is and how much they liked him. They suggested that we have a few house members interview him for SHI News & Notes, and we thought that was a great idea!

As you can imagine, managing the inner workings of 12 SHI locations is a busy and demanding job. As usual, Steve was very gracious and found time to sit down with us and grant us this interview. It turns out, when Steve is not busy driving from house to house fixing things, he’s busy with his very interesting hobbies! We’re lucky to have someone like Steve in our corner, and we’re excited to share this interview.
